ATTENDANCE POLICY - High School Students
1. Registration can be accomplished by visiting the counselor at your high school, or the DXATC Student Services Office. (435)652-7730
2. High School students can begin work on the available certificates and complete the CORE requirements in the technical areas.
3. Attendance in School – High School Students regular attendance in class is just as important as attendance on the job every day.
- Students must attend a minimum of 90% of the total clock hours scheduled for each of the courses in their programs each month.
- Instructors will review attendance with students on a regular basis. High School students not meeting the 90% will be placed on probation.
- If attendance is not improved over the next month the student will be subject to disciplinary action.
- Ten consecutive days of unexcused absence will result in automatic dismissal from the school.
4. Any student who is at least 16 years old, who states a technical objective, and can benefit from training is eligible to enroll in a program. A high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) is not an entrance to all programs; however, all applicants must have graduated from high school, or have successfully completed the GED, prior to applying for an application of an Associate of Applied Technology Degree. 5. Definitions
Excused Absence
A reason for being absent that has been approved by the course instructor. Examples of legitimate reasons for being excused would be a death in the family, or an accident or illness that is not preventable. Each course instructor will make the determination as to whether or not an absence can be excused.
Unexcused Absence
An absence for which the course instructor will not approve as being excused. Unexcused absences will be counted as an absence toward the 10% (ten percent) allowable absence each month.
