Grading Procedures

As an institution, DXATC has a non-graded, competency based system.  Some individual programs may award letter grades as directed by state certification requirements.  Student progress is measured by mastery of each competency or skill.  Although students normally do not receive letter grades, they must make satisfactory progress throughout the period they are enrolled.  The instructor will monitor student performance and time taken to complete each task or competency.  Students must master each competency or job skill in order to progress through the program.  Each instructor will determine competencies required to successfully complete course work and the level of mastery required.

For secondary students, DXATC supports the grading policy of the secondary school district.  Suggested letter grades may be issued at the end of each term at the request of the school district.  Competencies received by high school students are recorded with DXATC on the same basis as adult students.

Graduation

All students who wish to graduate with a Utah College of Applied Technology Certificate of Completion must clear graduation requirements with the Student Services Office.  Students are responsible for completing a graduation application and securing appropriate signatures.   A $15.00 graduation fee is assessed of all students who submit a formal application for graduation.

Leave of Absence

DXATC students can apply for a leave of absence for medical reasons only.  The student must apply for leave of absence and must sign all documents within ten(10) days of the last recorded date of class attendance.  Failure to do so will convert the requested leave of absence into a withdrawal.  All financial obligations to the college must be met at the time of application for approved leave of absence.  A student on leave of absence who does not return at the end of the approved time period will be considered to have withdrawn from the College.  Students must obtain and application for approved leave of absence from the Front Desk in the main office.
